We all know that Olympics has been around for a while.
Everything has a fall! just like that the Ancient Olympics didn’t stand for so long it fell down after a while.
A long time later modern Olympics was started and the first ever modern Olympics was held on 6th April, 1896 in Athens
2. Who started Modern Olympics?
So we all know that Olympics is insanely Popular but who is the reason for this.
Who is the man behind it ? it is no other than the Frenchman named “Baron Pierre de Coubertin”
He started the modern Olympics.
3.The 5 Rings !
Olympics have its own symbol/icon for it. Which is 5 rings.
But what is behind these 5 rings ?
The five rings represented the five participating continents of the time
they are :
- Africa
- Asia
- America
- Europe
- Oceania
4. Gold medals or Silver medals ?
We all know that in a game the winner (1st place holder) gets a gold medal !
We all also know how expensive gold is !
It might be this reason that Gold medals are mostly made of silver 😮 (coated gold)
5. Cancelled a few times !
We have all heard of people, products and events get cancelled !
But what if I say that the Modern Olympic has been cancelled too !
Not once ! Not Twice ! But 4 TIMES !
- In 1916 The Modern Olympics was cancelled due to World War I
- In 1940 and 1944 The Modern Olympics was cancelled due to World War II
- In 2020 The Modern Olympics cancelled due to the Pandemic (Covid-19)
